Description:

Canshare is an internet-based information-sharing system developed by and for the use of federal and provincial consumer law enforcement agencies. By reducing duplication and increasing the speed and efficiency of information exchange between jurisdictions, Canshare enables consumer law enforcement agencies to effectively allocate resources resulting in enhanced consumer protection programs. Canshare also allows jurisdictions to monitor and analyze marketplace trends, identify and locate alleged wrongdoers and issue alerts warning of possible deceptive practices in the marketplace.

The Canshare system was set up as a result of the Cooperative Enforcement Agreement reached at the November 1998 Meeting of Ministers Responsible for Consumer Affairs, held in Charlottetown, P.E.I.
