Description:
In May 2001 Federal, Provincial and Territorial Ministers responsible for consumer affairs approved a new harmonized approach to consumer protection legislation in electronic commerce which will give consumers the benefit of equal protection across the country. A template was developed containing provisions for credit card charge-backs along with provisions covering contract formation, cancellation rights, and information provision.
This working group, chaired by Ontario and the Federal Government, is examining options for extending chargeback rights to other forms of consumer transaction.
